Christmas cheer!

Today during class we did some Christmas themed activities to celebrate the up coming holiday, Christmas!

We were given the option to do 6 activities, I did 3 activities. First I did the scratch quiz and it was pretty boring! It only had 3 questions, but anyways. Did you know the Japanese eat KFC for Christmas?

Next I did the quizlet quiz and that was pretty hard! The questions were all in Maori, and some I had to answer in Maori which wasn't fair but in total. I got 8/10!

And the last one I did was a Pick-a-path Christmas edition! It had interesting questions and answers and I enjoyed it very much, but the answers all added up to feeding the reindeer which then you had to find Rudolph! After I finished it 5 times I went through the Pick-a-path several times to find different endings and that wasn't very exciting at all so I just moved on.

I then found out that if I do 2+ activities and blog about them I would be able to play prodigy if I finish it! So here I am now, the reason why I'm making a blog post about Christmas themed activities which were pretty quick to finish. Just saying.

I enjoyed this very much but I wouldn't wanna do this ever again.

How do you celebrate Christmas?

Thank you for reading my blog post this fine day.

End of year time capsule

This week in class I did these slides about me and my interests this year.

So the first slide was about subjects this year that I really enjoyed! These include: P.E, maths, and literacy.

The next slide was about some of my favourite things! These things include: My favourite colour, my favourite movie, and my favourite type of music.

Next is about my best friends, basically we had to take a picture of them and describe them! These include: Zyah, Heath, and Makaia.

And next one is about what I currently look like, we had to take a picture of our self and use adjective to describe our self! These include: geek, smart, and a literal vampire.

The 12th slide is about things about school that I appreciate, we had to type in things that we appreciate school for! I put ''So I can go swimming.''

The 13th slide is about my ideal lunch, we had to put foods we liked into our lunch and describe our everyday lunch.

Next we did a this or that kinda slide like for example, write an essay or speak to the whole class.

This next slide is about the highlights of this year and write a email to our teacher about it.

This slide is about somethings about this school year and describe it to them, this includes: A subject I improved on this year, a funny moment from this year, and My proudest moment this year.

And this slide is about the future like next year that they asked us, like something your excited for this year and how are you feeling about moving to another class next year. I didn't know how to feel on that question..

This slide was one of my favourites, we got to describe what kinda holiday we wanted to have after school finishes like how long it is, who's it with, etc.

And this last slide is a puzzle we had to complete it was my absolute favourite slide of this. The puzzle when assembled says, ''School's out for summer''

And that's it! I really enjoyed doing these slides and I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post.

What year are you gonna be in next year?

Visualising my mihimihi

So today in class I created my Visual Mihimihi!

Basically, you have to put two karakia, a whakatauki, your pepeha, your whanau, things you like, and things you don't like.

And so creating my Visual Mihimihi was very fun to do, even though I didn't like it at first.

It took me one and a half blocks to make and I'm very pleased with the result.

I hope you enjoy my finished mahi everybody.

Do you know your mihimihi?

The life cycle of a star!

The past week I've been working on a project about the life cycle of a star, basically me and my group had to research about the life cycle of a star. It was really fun and wasn't that hard.

My group consisted of Heath, Trey, I think D'zyre, and me. First we had to do a little bit of research, create a list of things to create our project, and get started on our create part. Heath put plans up for ideas on our final project but eventually after trying to decide on two we picked the more complicated version, I researched almost all of the life stages and put their definitions on our slides.

After a day or two Heath decided we needed to get on with our create, and we got some left over paper mache and started to create the cycles. I got some more powder and make the majority of them and left them to sit for a day, the next day I painted them with Trey and created some more after forgetting some and leaving them to sit for another day. I painted them and Heath realised we needed the Molecular cloud and Open cluster so I quickly made those and left them to sit for one more day, Today I painted those ones left it to sit and got the paper so we could glue it all together. Heath sloppily put the "arrows" pointing to all the evolutions in order with a HUGE brush.

When we finished our project we had to record it so we could post it onto our blog so before break we picked outside to record it and it took 2 videos and the whole of first break to do Heath's version, we ate then got back to recording and finished my version finally. Every now and then Trey popped in to see our progress and the company was great, eventually we sent our videos to each other and now we're creating our blogs with Trey washing dishes in the background.

Explanation writing: Why is Jupiter SOO huge?

Why is Jupiter SOO huge?

Today I will be explaining the cause as to why Jupiter is as huge as it is as far as we know, as well as some additional facts sprinkled into the mix.

The main reason why Jupiter is so huge is because Jupiter was originally going to burn into a star, a star is basically, imagine an ordinary star you see in the night sky but, bigger, brighter, hotter, and in the center of the solar system. An example of a star would be the sun which gives us day, the sun is the main reason we can jump and fall back to Earth because something called gravity keeps us from floating away into space.

The reason why Jupiter was unable to transform into a lovely star like the sun is because Jupiter was unfortunately still way too small to start burning into one, because of the fact that Jupiter is unable to morph into a star people nickname Jupiter a “failed star” but some people believe that nickname makes no sense considering Jupiter would need to be 83-85 times the mass of itself to become a tiny star.

I feel like one other reason Jupiter couldn’t become even a tiny star is because of the fact that Jupiter is a gas giant, in fact, Jovian planets are failed stars since they are still composed of the same material like stars but lack the mass to develop into stars like it’s parent star. Jovian planets are the outer planets of the solar system, they are separated from the terrestrial planets with the help of the asteroid belt. They are primarily gas giants and have many moons, Jupiter has 64!

Another reason Jupiter could never start smouldering into a star like its parent is Jupiter’s usual temperature is -238° Fahrenheit which is unusually cold considering the sun is a big ball of flame, also Jupiter’s wind speeds are 432 km/h which may be the least threatening to Uranus and Neptune, but at the very least could make you feel like your in two category 4 tornadoes, just so you know, Uranus and Neptune are Jupiter’s neighbouring planets.

Jupiter could also have been prevented from becoming a star because of its current living conditions, by its living conditions I mean that, it's a Jovian planet and already has several moons orbiting around it plus, it’s behind the asteroid belt/the warmer region so it’s in the colder region which could be another factor contributing to Jupiter’s temperature and another reason why Jupiter isn’t a star.

And with that, that’s all the reasons why I personally think that Jupiter is as huge as it is today.

What's your favourite planet?

Te Marae o Waitaha

As part of te reo Maori, we learnt the pepeha/whakapapa of Nga Marae Ki Waitaha.
I chose Rapaki Marae. These places are important to Kai Tahu whanui.
