My First Awesome Experience At Camp Waipara.

On Wednesday the 24th of March 2021, I went to camp Waipara adventure center with most of the other year 6's from my class and all the other classes who have year 6's.

On the first day, we were dropped off the side of a road and after morning tea we were all walking to the camp which took us a long time but, we got there the first photo is of some of us walking through the rivers to get to camp.

When we got to camp we ate morning tea then we were all split into groups, I was in the third group and my group had archery first! In the photo some of them are standing sideways so you can get a better shot, you also need to pull the arrow/bow back so that you can touch the back of your jaw, that's so the arrow will travel farther.

After archery our group's next activity was kayaking, kayaking is very fun all you have to do is just push yourself forward with the more cupped side of the paddle and keep doing that with the other side of the paddle as well, there was only one game we played while I was kayaking that game was called candle tag.

The next day same situation, get into activity groups go to activity. That day the activity we were doing then was called sky sailing! We went over to the rock wall we saw in the entrance and we were all numbered off, I was 10 the last one. Before you did the activity you had to get geared up, you were put into this strap thing that made you look like a miner or like you were going sky diving then you had to put on a hat probably for safety precautions. Then you went up the side path and got hooked up then you had to step down onto the rock's cliff and run as fast as you can then when you stopped you could choose between the fast way or slow way, the fast way is you get dropped halfway and get slowly lowered, the slow way is just slowly descended all the way down. There was also a rock you could climb on while you were waiting or bored.

The next activity was a water slide and flying fox, I couldn't go on the water slide for reasons. The flying fox was long and tall it was lowered so far down that your butt almost touched the ground, I went down 3 times before stopping, it was fun while it lasted.

The second last photo was a photo of a group on one breakfast, the cereal choices were wheatbix, rice pops and corn flakes. After that you got toast put at your table which was delicious. I loved the breakfasts. There was also butter, jams, Vegemite, and honey for the toast toppings.

The last activity that my group did was raft building, raft building was actually pretty hard because my group had to decide what to add on to the raft, we ended up putting planks on the top and sitting on that which eventually led to us falling off the raft. We also controlled the raft using paddles but not the huge kayak paddles tiny wooden paddles with only one paddle on one side.

What I liked about camp was that the activities were very fun and didn't bore me in anyway, especially archery. The meals were also delicious the pie was my favorite.

What I disliked about camp was that the ride to the side of the road where we we're starting our walk was so long I fell asleep, the walk was even more tiring my legs refused to work properly after that walk my feet felt bruised from stepping on all those stones. Also the first day was literally scorching hot so that made my walk even worse, the rivers were fine though my feet enjoyed it.

Thank you for reading my blog post.
